Collection of Gender Stereotypes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nIXUjzyMe0

This clip shows 9 minutes of gender stereotypes and if very interesting as it is from all different corners of the media including Adverts, TV Dramas and Movies. Some are shown in a comedy genre and some shown in serious action but they all have one thing in common and that is that they are highlighting Gender Stereotypes. some of the older clips if they were shown in modern times would be very offensive towards women as social acceptance of how faar you can go with a stereotype has changed massively over the years and always will be.

How are women represented?

The clip i was given was the trailer of Thor and i had to capture 6 stills to explain how women are represented. the first still shows a women looking scared of what she is seeing which makes the audience see her as weak and vulnerable. the second still shows a women working behind a desk at the hospital to enthuse that women should have desk jobs and leave the labour to the men. the third still shows when Thor orders for another drink and smashes his mug on the floor and the girls jump in shock and scream showing that they are jumpy and weak. the fourth still show a women running in fear carrying a child, that makes the man seem more powerful and have to stand up to what the women are running from. the fifth still shows a women looking scared whilst the man next to her looking at the same thing seems angry/confused showing that women are represented as weak vulnerable creatures that need to be protected by men as they cant look after themselves.
